What it is

Atom is a learning management system designed specifically for UK post-16 education. It covers the full learner journey, from enrolment and induction through to programme completion and outcomes reporting. Unlike generic LMS platforms adapted from corporate training tools, Atom is built around the funding, compliance, and qualification frameworks that FE colleges, independent training providers, and higher education institutions actually work within.

Tutors use Atom to deliver resources, set and return work, and track attendance and progress. Managers and quality teams use it to generate compliance reports, monitor cohort performance, and prepare for Ofsted inspections. Learners get a clean, mobile-responsive interface where everything they need is in one place.

Atom integrates with your existing MIS and is configurable to your provision model, whether that is classroom-based, work-based, blended, or fully online.

Who it is for

Atom is used by FE colleges running AEB-funded and commercial provision, independent training providers (ITPs) delivering apprenticeships and funded skills programmes, access to HE validating bodies and their college networks, and HE institutions managing continuing professional development or short-course provision.

If your teams are managing compliance evidence across spreadsheets, chasing tutors for progress updates by email, or spending inspection preparation time pulling data from three different systems, Atom is built to fix that. It is particularly well-suited to providers with complex, multi-site delivery where visibility across the whole programme portfolio matters.

How it works

Atom runs in the browser, hosted by Pearl with UK data residency. Onboarding includes a structured data migration from your current system, configuration of your programme structures, and training for admin, tutor, and learner-facing roles.

User roles and permissions are fully configurable, so a tutor sees their own cohorts, a quality lead sees provision-wide data, and a manager sees the reports relevant to their area. Integrations are handled via API connection to your MIS so learner data stays consistent across systems.

Support is provided by a UK-based team with direct FE sector experience, not a generic helpdesk.
